Jasemin Khaleli

Ethnomusicologist & Artist

Jasemin Anika Khaleli (she/her) is an ethnomusicologist and artist living in Vienna. She currently works at the Phonogram Archive of the Austrian Academy of Sciences as part of the ÆSR Lab – Applied/Experimental Sound Research Laboratory, a project for artistic research with sound. She explores questions of institutionalized violence, archival voids, and critical knowledge production, and practices decolonial and queer approaches as well as sensory ethnography. Her work has been recognized by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and the GAIN Gender and Agency Prize of the University of Vienna, among others, and increasingly encompasses various media such as performance and sculpture. As part of the Vienna Schmusechor, she can be seen on various stages, most recently in Jelinek's "Illness or Modern Women" at the Volkstheater Vienna.
